An elegant Regency country house, cradled by both the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills, the Mount Somerset is the 'Most Excellent Country Hotel' in the UK, noted for its elegance and warmth. It has the warm, inviting feel of a delightful, private country house and, having only 11 bedrooms, gives you the feeling you are staying with friends.
High ceilings, large windows and a fabulous, sweeping, circular staircase create a sense of spaciousness and elegance. Real log fires, abundant scatter cushions and antique pictures and ornaments add extra warmth and colour.
Most people, however, come to The Mount Somerset not ‘to do’ but simply 'to be'. This is life as it should be, calm and unhurried - time to talk and listen to friends and family and regain lost vitality. Look out for the magnificent display by our resident peacock.
We even provide a beauty treatments service in the luxurious comfort of your own room. There's a treatment available for everyone whatever your plans for your stay at The Mount Somerset. The Mount Somerset is currently undergoing a soft internal refurbishment of all bedrooms and public areas. All of the bedrooms have been beautifully refurbished and appointed to a very high standard whilst maintaining the classic style and period of the house. This work is due to be completed by the end of February 2010.
Please be assured that any disruption to the hotel will be kept to a minimum and that we will continue to operate to our usual high standard while renovations are taking place.
We are also delighted to announce the addition of 8 new bedrooms and a spa. The building work is currently underway at the rear of the hotel away from the main house and is due to be completed in July 2010.
