Mount Somerset Refurbishment Update Posted on 05/02/2010
MAIN HOUSE
The Mount Somerset is currently undergoing a soft internal refurbishment of all bedrooms and public areas.
All of the bedrooms and the main restaurant have been completed and beautifully refurbished and appointed to a very high standard whilst maintaining the classic style and period of the house. The Jacuzzi baths have been replaced with mostly roll tops baths and all of the suites have walk in showers with wet rooms.
The Lounge has been repainted in soft soothing tones maintaining the warmth of the room. This is complimented by a mixture of new chairs and sofas next to open log fires and far reaching views over the gardens and countryside.
The Peacock room which was originally used as the reception area when the hotel first opened has been re-painted, carpeted and furnished. The luxurious opulent curtains and new chairs and sofa’s have Peacock feathers embroidered on encapsulating the Peacock theme the hotel in renowned for.
The main area of reception has been repainted using heritage colours in keeping with the house and listed border than runs through reception and our magnificent circular staircase. The entrance and reception will retain the house’s original parquet flooring.
The infamous pink ladies lavatories are going making way for a new disabled access area into the hotel. Building work has started on the new ladies lavatories which will include a specifically adapted lavatory for wheelchair users.
